Artist Process

gallery showMy objective is to catch that place between color field painting and landscape painting.  I work without forcing anything into being.  The structure of the landscape is elusive as it emerges.

The primary thought that echoes in my mind as I paint is “what would happen if….”.  It’s a thought that creates an environment with few boundaries.

I paint with thin layers of acrylic paint using many of the same techniques and tools that are used in faux finishing.  More often than not, non-traditional painting tools are used.

Shapes and textures slowly surface as I continue to ask and answer the question that is an integral part of my painting, “what would happen if…”.
